For many centuries, paper and paper-like materials such as vellum and papyrus have served as a central medium for artists.  The Paperworks exhibition explores the endless manipulation of paper-based art whether serving as a canvas or as the primary medium for the work itself.  The exhibition features twenty-one works from thirteen national artists.  An exhibition catalog and juror’s essay will be available for download soon!

The juror, Mia Kaplan, is an independent curator and the founding director of AMMO, a curatorial company representing artists in New Orleans, Lousiana. Kaplan organizes exhibitions of emerging and established contemporary artists and has worked with internationally respected institutions, including the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Louisiana Artworks, Centre for the Living Arts (Space 301) in Mobile, AL, among others. Her curatorial work and the exhibitions she has presented have received acclaim in both Artforum and Artpapers. As a regular guest speaker, she has spoken at the University of New Orleans, Louisiana Artworks, The Arts Council of New Orleans, YAYA, Amite City Schools, Memphis City Schools, among others.
